The question I actually ask about my money isn't "which category did I overspend in last month?"
It's simpler than that: "Do I have enough to make it to payday?"
Most budgeting apps don't answer that question. They want your bank login, they push you through account setup, and then they show you pie charts about the past. What I wanted was a calendar that shows me my balance — today, yesterday, and three weeks from now.
So I built it.
What I Built
Tipid is a calm, private money calendar for iPhone. The calendar is the app. Every day answers two questions: what happened, and how much money do I have?
- Balance on every day — your running balance, past and projected, on every single day of the month
- Know what's coming — add your paycheck, rent, and subscriptions once, and the forecast projects your true balance forward. It even warns you before you'd dip below zero
- A month at a glance — tap the month for income, spending, a category breakdown, and how it compares with last month
- Up to three calendars — checking, savings, a goal fund. Each keeps its own balance, transactions, and schedule
- Two-second logging — amount, category, save. Notes recognize the brands you already know, and a gentle reminder only appears on days you haven't logged
Private by Design
This part matters to me: Tipid has no accounts and no bank logins.
Your transactions stay on your device. You can lock the app behind Face ID. You can export everything as JSON or CSV anytime, or delete it all. Your money data is yours.
Why "Tipid"?
"Tipid" is Filipino for thrifty. Not cheap — intentional. Spend with intention, save more.
That's the whole philosophy of the app. It doesn't guilt you with red charts or badges. It just shows you, calmly, where your money stands on any given day — so you can decide what to do next.
